The Procurement Development Program
About The Procurement Development Program (PDP)
In 2010, ICG Commerce launched a first of its kind Procurement leadership and development program, focused exclusively on developing the next generation of procurement leaders.
The program is a two-year rotational curriculum aimed at providing Procurement Development Associates (PDAs) with the specialized training needed to facilitate their development into highly skilled and knowledgeable procurement professionals.
The program has three objectives:
- To develop the "next generation" of ICG Commerce talent and support future hiring needs with employees who:
- Have exposure, experience, and understanding of our core functions of Sourcing, Category Management, Operations and Program Management
- Have built strong cross-functional relationships across the business
- To support our strategic goal of becoming "The Place to Work" in our industry
- To continually build out our dedicated teams of specialists by providing extraordinary development and exposure opportunities to a subset of our best emerging, internal talent
Successful PDP participants will enjoy significant responsibility and the opportunity to contribute to business results. The program provides exposure to business leaders in a culture that recognizes and rewards excellence.
PDP Program Design
The Procurement Development Program is uniquely focused on developing exceptional leadership skills coupled with deep procurement expertise through actual work experience. The program has been designed to develop the next generation of ICG Commerce talent and provide employees with the exposure, experience and skills needed to help companies fundamentally improve how they manage their non-core spend.
During the two-year program, associates work across ICG Commerce in a series of three job rotations, each eight months in duration. Rotations are supplemented with formal training, certifications, class team-building, cross-cultural learning and executive exposure including LEAN Six Certification, global projects focused on Asia and Europe and assignment of an "Executive Sponsor" which are members of ICG Commerce's management committee.
